Websites - CSS Zen Garden blackcomb*75

  • Another passion project of mine (and a slight step back in time) - in the mid 2000s, the web design community began to rethink how we might use CSS & HTML in new ways to more effectively execute and influence web design and layout to generate consistent and more dynamic designs across all web browsers.

The CSS Zen Garden, created by designer Dave Shea was an exciting experiment conceived to help put this idea to the test. It was a massive success and quickly became one of the most influential innovations in web design and front end develpment, changing forever how websites were designed and coded.

  • My submission blackcomb*75 was inspired by a trip I took to British Columbia and a photograph I took on the Blackcomb Glacier. All code and graphics took about 3 weeks (see inset for actual code sample/snippet) - it was accepted and designated as Official Design #172.
